SciFest XI Summer Poster Session

SciFest will take place on Thursday, August 11th from 1:00 - 3:00pm in Shapiro Science Center and Gerstenzang. The registration deadline for presenters was July 26.

SciFest XI Poster Session is the 11th annual celebration of Brandeis undergraduate science research.

At this poster session, ~100 students will present the results of their research while dozens of professors, postdocs, administrators, and graduate students peruse the displays. This event is public, and all are invited!

  • All Brandeis undergraduates are cordially invited to participate.

  • Visiting students doing research at Brandeis in Summer 2022 are also encouraged to participate.

  • Posters about research done off-campus are welcomed.

Participation Deadline and Dates


SciFest will take place on Thursday, August 11th from 1:00 - 3:00pm in Shapiro Science Center and Gerstenzang. The registration deadline for presenters was July 26.


To participate in SciFest, registered presenters must complete the following steps:


  1. Submit your presentation information, including title, abstract, and personal statement (if applicable) using this form by end of day on Tuesday, August 2nd.

    • Your abstract must be approved by your PI/program faculty advisor/mentor before submission.

    • 1 paragraph/200-400 words is the suggested length.

  2. If you wish to have your poster printed at Brandeis, use this form to submit your poster by end of day on Friday, August 5.

    • Detailed instructions for submitting your poster online are attached to this email.

    • Please use Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari to access the form. If you are off-campus, you must be connected to the Brandeis VPN.

    • Your poster should be no larger than 36x54 inches and must be in PDF format.

    • Your poster should be reviewed by your PI/program faculty advisor/mentor PRIOR to submission.

    • You will receive an email about where to pick up your poster closer to SciFest.

    • We cannot guarantee that posters submitted after August 5th will be printed in time for SciFest.

Day-of Details for SciFest:


  • We will be following Brandeis University COVID-19 policies, which can be found here. Masks are currently required for events with over 20 attendees.

  • Students should plan to set up their posters between 9:00am - 12:00pm on Thursday, August 11th. (Push pins will already be placed on each presentation board, and should be used to mount your poster).

  • A registration table will be set up on the ground level of the Shapiro Science Center. Sarah will be there as a point of reference. Please check in with Sarah prior to hanging up your poster.

  • Boxed lunches will be provided for all presenters and can be picked up with me at registration beginning at 11:30am.

  • Easels and poster boards will be set up throughout the Shapiro Science Center and in the Gzang corridors and marked with a colored post-it note according to the following groups listed below. All presenters will receive more detailed information on poster placement closer to SciFest.

Who comes to SciFest?

SciFest is most popular among the entire Science Community, including faculty, students, and administrative leaders.


Can outside guests come to SciFest?

Outside guests are welcome to come to SciFest without registering when the campus is in “Green” or “Yellow” COVID-19 status. Registration will be required in the event of an “Orange” status. For more information on Brandeis’s COVID-19 policies, please click here.


What do I wear to SciFest?

Business-casual attire is suggested.


Will food be served at the event?

Lunch will be served to all registrants beginning at 11:30am and light refreshments will be available during the poster session.


What do I do after the event is over?

  1. Remove the board from the easel and unpin your poster

  2. Collapse the easel

  3. Place both the easel and poster board in the designated spots on your floor

  4. Return all push-pins to Sarah Horwitz at registration
